In 2025, Pixelbar officially celebrates its '''10th anniversary'''! What started as a small group of enthusiasts with a shared passion for technology, creativity, and collaboration has grown into a vibrant hackerspace in Rotterdam over the past decade.

To mark this special milestone, we’re hosting a '''barbecue and party on September 27, 2025''' at our space. The evening will feature a community BBQ, music, a short speech by the board, and of course the chance to reconnect with members and friends of Pixelbar.

This anniversary is not only a moment to look back on ten years of projects, workshops, and community, but also to set the stage for the future. Pixelbar will continue to be the place where makers, hackers, and creatives come together to bring ideas to life.

== Hardware ==
The original unit we received consisted of a height-adjustable pillar with a sheet steel case on top. The case had a screen, a 4x40 character LCD display with a blue backlight, 4 leds, 2 buttons, an up/down lever (connected to the pillar), and another lever connected to the computer inside. There's a USB connector on the front, which is not connected internally.

The computer inside is a Sony ECM-3711. It has a GIO expander connected over USB.

* Ram: 1Gb, with 64MB reserved for video memory
* Storage: 4GB compact/flash, detected as IDE1 master

== The "Where" unit ==
[[User:Ondergetekende]] hacked/soldered an internal connector to the frontpanel USB, so a keyboard can be attached with the case closed.

There's a substantial power problem - the machine won't boot up properly, it even takes a minute before the fan starts spinning, despite it being connected to 12v directly. After some time, tripping the case intrusion switch seems to help.

The shell on the machine was last accessed on 7 mar 2014. It is running Debian squeeze/sid.

A hacker space is a physical space in which both hackers and those interested in science, technology, or digital art (and many other areas) can meet and exchange ideas. At Pixelbar there is the opportunity to work together, and of course there is also the space to work independently on a project. === History ===
In 2015, David and Miep officially started Pixelbar at the notary and chamber of commerce. The hacker space found his home in the Keilewerf the same year and a small group of members formed. Late 2018 and beginning of 2019 discussions were held, and it was decided to find more board members. Meanwhile the space was already moved inside the Keilewerf and lots of members were added to Pixelbar.

From 2019 the board increased to 5 members, as it should, the primary roles are shifted. Miep, previously Treasurer and Secretary, now became a normal board member and Eddie and Tim took over the roles of Treasurer and Secretary.

At the end of 2020 Tim has stepped back from the board. Miep is taking the secretary position at the moment. He would like to be able to leave the board by the end of 2021 to do more projects and less bureaucracy.

=== The Covid Years ===
The board worked on a restructuring to help Pixelbar get out of the Covid-19 pandemic even better than before. That involved making the hacker space a safe and welcoming place to be at. In order to have some new idea's and fresh views there was a work group "new board" which has the purpose of defining the new board, while respecting everyone's wishes.

=== Great Fire of Keilewerf ===
During the fire, the board focused on finding Pixelbar a new home and the funding to get back on our feet.

=== Currently ===
At the end 2023, Mc.Fly stepped back from the Chairman role and was replaced by Nosfaratuss with TuCje moving to treasurer role and TeQ took on the role of secretary.
